I moved to New York as an actor, a dreamer, and a director. While I still consider myself all of these, I’ve been a professional headshot photographer for 8 years and counting. My approach to headshots is informed by my formal study of theater in university. I use my background as an actor to help evoke expression as though we’re in a scene. I use my directorial eye as a way to compose each frame in a flattering, artful way.
I began my career as a photographer shooting headshots for friends on my roof. After an assistantship with top New York photographer, Peter Hurley, I opened my own studio in 2015.
Since then, I’ve had hundreds of actors, opera singers, authors, and creative professionals of all stripes visit my studio for a premium headshot experience.
I’m constantly refining my approach by using the latest photographic technology, commissioning inventive backgrounds by local artists, and staying up to date with the latest trends in the casting industry. I’d like to think my style is dynamic and custom tailored to match the energy of each individual client.
After the shoot, I’ll comb through the hundreds of photos we take and will give you the best selection from your session. The photos will be color corrected and uploaded to a gallery with downloadable jpegs. It’s like getting a shiny new car, but just lots of pretty pics of your face.
Truly, the best headshots I have ever taken have been the result of spontaneity.
My advice: Approach the shoot with an open mind and trust the process! Think of this as a rehearsal where you have the opportunity to explore and play in the space.
The bottom line is that I’ve got your your back and I’m coaching you through the whole process. But I play off your vibes too, so I know when to step back and let the magic happen. As we shoot, we will periodically look over at the monitor to make sure that hair and makeup feels like you and that we are on track with your goals. I encourage an open dialogue through the whole shoot.
By the time we meet on the day, you’ll have gone through some “homework” questions that will get you thinking about what kinds of roles you play, what you’re missing, and how to make the most of our time. I will offer you coffee or tea and you will *hopefully* play some music that makes your heart happy. We’ll review your clothes and talk about your goals as an artist. I’ll always offer you my opinion, but I’m gonna listen to you first. These shots are not for me, they are for you.
NYC is my first love, but I feel most myself when standing in vast, open landscapes.
I love The Bachelor so much that my fiancé proposed to me with a darn rose.
For the past 12 years, I've been the same exact thing for Halloween... a colonial woman named Margaret.
Mountains/cliffs over the beach any day.
I can eat 10 pounds of blueberries in one sitting.
My favorite clients are the ones who arrive open minded, and open to the process. “Get out of your head” - every acting teacher you’ve ever had and now me.
I love to go adventuring but deep down, my favorite place is at home with my fiancé and my puppy.
Brooklyn is my forever but Montreal has my heart.
