"Dear me...thank you, dear Jessica, for your hands, eyes, your work, for making this easy and fun. You are a special spirit, and I’m glad to know you!"

Hey there, I'm Jess, It's a pleasure to meet you.

I’m constantly refining my approach by using the latest photographic technology, commissioning inventive backgrounds by local artists, and staying up to date with the latest trends in the casting industry. I’d like to think my style I dynamic and custom-tailored to match the energy and depth of each individual client.

I live in Crown Heights, Brooklyn with my husband Matt. When I’m not shooting, I enjoy spending time in the backyard, eating blueberries, watching a good show, eating more blueberries, and morning snuggles with my puppy Monty, who always wears a bowtie.

I moved to New York as an actor, a dreamer, and a director. While I still consider myself all of these, I’ve been a professional headshot photographer for 10 years and counting. My approach to headshots is informed by my formal study of theater at university. I draw from my background as an actor to help evoke expression as though we’re in a scene. I use my directorial eye as a way to compose each frame in a flattering, artful way.

I began my career as a photographer shooting headshots for friends on my roof. After an assistantship with top New York photographer, Peter Hurley, I opened my own studio in 2015. Since then, I’ve had thousands of actors, opera singers, authors, and creative professionals of all stripes visit my studio for a premium headshot experience.

about

Weddings were my gateway into photography and my very first love! After 13 years of shooting couples, I take on a limited number of weddings and engagements per year. It is an honor and privilege to capture someone's story the way it feels, not just the way it looks. To tell these stories, I focus on the in-between moments + the connection that brought two people together. I create a joyous, stress-free environment for my couples and their families, allowing us to forge a bond and complete trust. My images are artistic, genuine, and timeless, so you can relive the day many years later.

I am OVERFLOWING with GRATITUDE only CAPITAL LETTERS can describe. These feel life-changing. I had such a fantastic time shooting with you and from the moment I left the studio I was already swelling with confidence in the work we put in. I really didn't think that I could feel so great about a picture of myself. These are an authentic calling card I can send into the world, and it is so empowering.

I'm screaming! These are incredible! Holy $%*^!. Thank you so so so so much! My boyfriend and I were scrolling through the gallery and as we were audibly gasping (not an exaggeration) he said, "Wow. This was worth it!" And I 1000% agree!

I booked my first TV job playing an FBI agent, without audition, from this headshot! Thank you again!

"As a young actor, today wasn't just another headshot session but an opportunity for me to express to someone who I want to be as an actor and what I want out of my career."

- Esra dayan

Your warmth, humor, and your professional expertise & artistry made me feel at ease and confident. I knew that not only was I in good hands, but that I was in hands who cared about the final results; two artists working towards a shared goal.  Thank you for being so charming, funny and energetic...and KIND. My shots truly reflect me in the shape and form I am now and they reflect my inner self as well.

"Thank you so much, I'm so excited about these!! They look so BEAUTIFUL 😁 Thank you guys so much for making me feel like a true movie star!!!

My world revolves around my family, my friends, my husband, and my rescue pup. I get my “drop everything for your family” mentality from my mom. My humor and hustle from my dad. My sister reminds me to chill the heck out and most recently how to properly pose like a member of a sorority.

My husband and high school sweetheart somehow still puts up with me after 12 years of my antics and mood swings. He’s smart, incredibly kind, ferociously loyal, and the best person I’ve ever met.

Saved the best for last: my pup Monty. He’s the cutest boy in the land, but definitely a handful. He enjoys cuddles (but not when the sun goes down), all kinds of food (except salami), and being outside (except when it’s wet, raining, about to rain, or going to rain in the next few hours).

Who I love

As much as I love photography as an art, I wouldn’t be doing this if not for the people I get to work with, and the absolute JOY it is to have meaningful connections with my clients.

The trust they put in me is a gift and I don’t take that lightly. If I can help bring someone closer to achieving their dreams, the reward is immeasurable.

Why I do it

I’m originally from a small town in Glastonbury, Connecticut. Growing up, I always had a flair for the dramatics, a cheeky sense of humor, and a dream to be on stage. Although I pursued acting for a huge part of my life, my dreams shifted while studying in New York. I never would have imagined those dreams would manifest into the incredible and thriving business I run today. Although I’ve been a New Yorker for the past 11 years and counting, I’ll never forget our grassy backyard, the treehouse in the woods, the ice cream shop on the farm, and the fountain in the heart of Main Street. It's where I learned to ride a bike, get multiple detentions for tardiness, become obsessed with coffee at the age of 12, and meet my now husband in choir rehearsal. Glastonbury is where it all began, and will always hold a special place in my heart.

Where I'm from

I believe the best things in life are the unplanned ones and I will continue following my intuition and staying alert to opportunity. Right now, I’m committed and invested in my business and will continue challenging myself creatively because there is always room to learn and grow. I’ve learned so much about myself through founding and growing my own business and I hope someday I’ll be able to share that with the next generation. Whatever I do, I fully believe it’s important to lead with compassion. And that’s all I’ve got… for now!
